Wispr Flow transcribes in the cloud and is the quickest to start. Superwhisper can run on your device, works offline and sells a lifetime licence. Both run on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android in 100+ languages. If you only need a Mac, Inkbie does voice typing on your Mac for free, so it's here as a third column.

The short version

The biggest difference is where your voice goes. Wispr Flow sends it to the cloud every time, which keeps setup simple. Superwhisper lets you choose, and its free plan already runs locally. Price comes next: Superwhisper is cheaper month to month and can be bought outright, while Wispr Flow bundles a meeting Notetaker. Is there a free option?
Both have free plans. Superwhisper's free plan includes unlimited dictation with local Whisper models; Wispr Flow's unlimited dictation needs Pro. If you only use a Mac, Inkbie's voice typing is free for good with no word limit.
